  6. Number 1 gymnast in the world one day, but 
  7. she did! Shannon won five medals at the
  8. 1992 Olympics and the world all-around 
  9. championships in 1993 and 1994.

  11. Shannon first learned how good she could
  12. be when she was 8 years old. She and her
  13. mom traveled to Russia, where she met and
  14. trained with some of the worldΓÇÖs best
  15. gymnasts and coaches. One coach told
  16. ShannonΓÇÖs mom that Shannon had the
  17. potential to be a champion if she got the
  18. proper coaching.
